A few weeks ago I saw the first hummingbird of 2020 at the deck feeder. I forgot to post about it until JJ reminded me earlier.
Thankfully my photos have dates, so I can tell when this was taken, April 21, 2020. These tiny birds are so much fun to watch. So far I have seen two at the feeders. A male and a female ruby-throated.
Of course the male always has the brighter colors. His throat is a fluorescent red and it shines nice and bright in the sunshine. Always excited to see these birds return year after year.
You have to be patient to get a photo because they are so fast. I usually have a seat on the deck and wait.

@CarolDM I'm trying to imagine, if it was up to me, the world would probably never see what birds look like

I'm not sure I've ever seen a hummingbird in real life. That's sad. I'm sure they're all around me, and I've just never paid attention or noticed. And I'm pretty good about noticing things in nature. I do love every spring when all the azaleas bloom that I see hundreds of the giant bumblebees feeding in the azalea flowers. It is fun to watch them!
