Bermuda Triangle - a hoax, myth or true?

India
November 29, 2006 6:49pm CST
The "Bermuda or Devil's Triangle" is an imaginary area located off the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States, which is noted for a high incidence of unexplained losses of ships, small boats, and aircraft. Countless theories attempting to explain the many disappearances have been offered throughout the history of the area. The most practical seem to be environmental effects and human error, mostly the latter. The "Devil's Triangle" is one of the two places on earth that a magnetic compass does point towards true north. Normally it points toward magnetic north. What is your opinion??

I think populat theory is gas deposits under the ocean floor can lower the surface tension of the water when released. any ship unlucky enough to be on that bit of water at the time finds the water unable to take the weight of the vessel, and sinking. Planes going misssing can be put down to the compass, no knowing where they are going, running out of fuel and ditching. The compas being faulty is still unexplained (I think) but a large quantity of iron, or anothe magnetic metal would confuse compases in the area. Its not mysterious or supernatural. its just unexplained. just because we dont understand something doesnt make it supernatural.

you're probably right. I feel this is as unexplainable as 'hauntings' of certain houses, we see in discovery channel!

Bermuda triangle - Bermuda Triangle
It's a rather exciting tale, I almost wish it were true. Unfortunately, I can't offer any helpful or astounding insight into the occurance of so many disappearances, nor why compasses seem perplexed by the area. I can only say it is one of earth's many mysteries. I'd like to have a look myself someday...

Thanks for responding! You show good instinct ! The Ex-secretary of defence(US) believed its a Myth: email to Michael McNamara at: kessec@charter.net or go to his research website on this mystery at: www.scientium.com/diagon_alley/commentary/ editorial_concourse/mcnamara/bermyth.htm

True! It's also a 'Hoax', since several writers and the media made a lot of money writing about this mystery! The erstwhile Robert McNamara, in his in-depth study on this phenomenon, states: "it's a Myth", just as you did: email to Michael McNamara at: kessec@charter.net or go to: www.scientium.com

Hi! I think there are probably places on the earth where magnetic forces and atmospheric pressure cause things to happen that normally wouldn't happen. I don't think there's anything sinister about the Bermuda Triangle, but it is curious, isn't it? I hope there are more and more specials about exploration of the area and new discoveries!

I have found stories of this place fascinating since I was a child. I think there have been just too many incidents there for it to be a co-incidence. And I think the American Gov knows more than they're letting on.

I there are some natural forces like weather, see depth, magnate in sea surface, or any kind of radiation that cause those events. This can be revealed by scientific exploration.

I watched a documentry about this a while back.Unfortunately i can't remember what it said, so my opinion probably isn't that great a one.But i will say i was fascinated at the stories of ships just "disapearing" I was really fascinated & watched it all.

I personally think that there is "something" different about the area..there have been far too many incidents occur in that one area for it to be pure coincidence or that everyone that's going to make an error winds up there. I don't know if we'll ever know about all of the planes and ships that have disappeared in that area and I have an open mind about things like that. I have heard of the fact that compasses don't point where people are used to them pointing, but I don't feel that it would make that much difference in the things that have occurred there. We in our lifetime may never reach a true answer, but maybe someday there will be some kind of confirmation.

the Bermuda Triangle is a mysterious place a lots of things happen there that cant be explained but we have to take into account the laws of science i think there is a reasonable explanation for almost ever thing that happens there but if it was up to me to explain it i couldn’t.

my opinion about bermuda triangle is nature mistery. I believe there is HUGE magnet power on there, maybe that the center of earth or maybe it just the magnetic end. if that true bermuda triangle have positife magnet try to fly with plastic plane on there... hehe

I saw a program on this not long ago and it was explained scientifically that some time of magnetic field interferred with the plane or boats control panels causing disaster. I can't remember the specifics of it, but it was very interesting. I think it was on the discovery channel.
