Yes, I am blatantly ripping off Lori A. Moore’s series on her favorite zoos. That prompted my thinking about zoos I have visited and realization of how few I have visited despite all my travels and advanced age. I am not particularly enamored of zoos and usually pass on them. Once you have seen a giraffe.... Zoos are listed in order in which I visited.
I only went to the Audubon Zoo because of a good price combo ticket for both zoo and aquarium. A nice saving. The zoo opened in 1914. I took the “Streetcar Named Desire” (some of you will “get it”) as it is outside the French Quarter. Glad I went for seeing the swamp area. The rest of the zoo is standard with monkeys and giraffes et all but the zoo took care to highlight the local natural terrain and creatures within. The swamps of the bayou team with life unique to it and the zoo does a recreation. The highlight of the entire zoo is seeing the rare white alligator.

I like to see alligators and other reptiles. I've never seen a white alligator.
