Zoos I have visited: Lincoln Park Zoo Chicago

Yes, I am blatantly ripping off Lori A. Moore’s series on her favorite zoos. That prompted my thinking about zoos I have visited and realization of how few I have visited despite all my travels and advanced age. I am not particularly enamored of zoos and usually pass on them. Once you have seen a giraffe.... Zoos are listed in order in which I visited.
Opening in 1868, Lincoln Park Zoo is the last one I visited and that was some 17 years ago. It is located in the heart of the Windy City. I only went because the zoo has free admission and had some time to kill. Despite its age, there is nothing remarkable architecturally. Small in scope. I watched the big cats pacing back and forth and you could hear their paws pounding the floor. Being free, it is a great family place to spend a sunny afternoon at.
Highly unlikely I will ever visit another zoo.

I love animals. I would never get tired of zoos, although I hate to see animals caged up.

I unknowingly stole a discussion idea, from Lori also:( It embarrassed me, when I realized that she'd written about duct tape, a few days prior to my writing about fixing my vacuum cleaner, with 'duct tape.' I explained it was definitely an accident and she responded kindly! I no longer felt bad about it:)

I had the Bronx Zoo and the zoo in Central Park and they sort of spoiled me for other zoos!

Zoos are a bit the same for me. I mean, I have seen all these animals before. Besides. Zoos are a bit depressing. I'm sure any of the animals in them would prefer to be roaming around free rather than being gawked at and trapped. Miss ya bud, by the way, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello even if you can't hear me.
Or, maybe you can. One never knows.

this was the first zoo i ever went to, and is still my all time favorite zoo.
