I think it’s more frequently than that, and only since 1914. In 1919 there was the Spanish Flu, in the 50s there was another global pandemic, in the 60s there was another one, then there was AIDS, which has killed a comparable number to the Spanish Flu, then in 2008-2010 there was Swine Flu, and now we have COVID-19. The world has never seen so many global outbreaks of disease in such a short span of time.

True, hopefully it will end soon, although every other pandemic in the last century has lasted for at least two years

And that’s the problem; scientists are largely bound by political issues, and those issues will never go away while humans carry on ruling themselves

One reason Spanish flu was deadlier is because there were fewer antibiotic available back then that would control secondary bacterial infections. It also happened while World War 1 was being fought.
