Lauderdale County Deputy Sam Upchurch is being called a hero after he answered a call from Lieutenant Willie Graham who reported from a courthouse in Meridian Mississippi that someone had shot Chauncy Judge Charles Smith outside of the courthouse on March 16.
Deputy Upchurch who is a nurse as well as a former paramedic then drove his police car to the venue of the shooting.
Thanks to his training in dealing with medical emergencies, he was able to stop the bleeding from the area where the judge had been shot once in the leg.
Deputy Upchurch who was in the company of other police officers stood with the judge until an ambulance arrived to take Judge Smith to a local hospital where he recovered from his wound and returned to the bench today.
Even though Judge Smith is not able to walk properly due to the wounded leg, he honored Deputy Upchurch for his actions of saving his life outside of the courthouse in Meridian this morning.
The criminal that shot the judge is still at large.

The judge was lucky that the deputy saved him due to his training in the medical field.

That's the usual or natural for a distressed person once being helped be grateful in return to his rescuer.

That is true since even the most vile person on this planet will thank the person who saved him.

I know what you mean that as long as the criminal is on the street, the people in Meridian should be on their toes.

It seems to be a new trend in police officers having experience in having medical training to be on the force.

Thank goodness Deputy Upchurch had training as a nurse and a paramedic to safe the Judge's life.

It seems to be a trend that some police officers have medical training which is priceless when they go rescue missions.

I agree with you since the medical training came in handy from Deputy Upchurch.
