In the state of Chattisgarh in India a woman from a village near the city of Raipur delivered twins who were born after great hardship during the Corona lockdown. In remembrance of the hardship faced the proud parents decided to name their twins Corona and Covid. These parents are under pressure from their family and relatives to give them a better name but the parents have stuck to the names for the present. Did the parents do the right thing to name their kids on a virus?

Nice names. Hope they don't become as dangerous as the namesake are at the moment.

@arunima25 You are right. The names , we feel have great influence on future of a person. An astrologer or a priest was therefore consulted before name of a child is fixed.

Yes. We have a strong belief in our country that names influence the character and personality of a person.

@msdivkar nice joke. Even if they become dangerous you just need to wear mask and maintain social distancing.

@LovingMyBabies I agree completely with you. The parents too haven't changed the names. And we hope the twins grow to be good citizens.

@MALUSE yes I heard about the strict rules of naming a child in Germany. Care needs to be taken while naming a child.

@MALUSE absolutely. Improper names are a burden for the kids when they grow up.

@marlina it's wrong . I agree with you. The parents may have thought it appropriate to give such strange Virus names. Hope good sense prevail on the parents .

@marlina you mean naming the twins a virus name. Yes an unusual name. If the parents really wanted a pandemic remembrance names then they could have given the Doctors name who delivered the twins.

I would not have done that, but if the parents are happy with those names, no one has the right to tell them otherwise.

@jayanth_77 Oh yes! this breed is really cute. Do they shed a lot? I want to have a dog someday that does not shed much. But for the meantime, we will pamper this spitz we have now.

@bbghitte yes keeping such virus names is not good because as these kids start to go to school they will be made fun off my other kids and be bullied

@bbghitte yes bullying is a big problem in schools. A bullyed kid will do poorly at school, will always live in fear and have poor social skills.

@jayanth_77 I agree! And some kids are not good at handling bullying and that would have a big impact as they grow old

@jayanth_77 I would not want to be reminded of this terrible time and then when the kids get older they would have to explain to them why they named them those names. It is the parents decisions what they want to name their kids. I personally would not name them those names.

@Hannihar yes I agree with you. Remembering terrible times associated with a virus by giving the name to a child is just rediculous. The parents must have done it without knowing the consequence. They should listen to good advice .

That would be some unique names. Parents have all rights to choose their names. But I am not sure if the children would appreciate to be named after virus. Anyway they can change it when they are adults.

@jayanth_77 If I was parent I would have not given a name that can make them feel bad. These names can be easily targeted for a leg pulling. Also we have an ancient faith that names influence your character.

@jstory07 you are right. it's upto the parents what name they want to give their child. l too feel just like you. I would have given a good name. Something that is more cheerful that people can associate with. May be a great leader or even the name of the Doctor who helped bring the child into the world.

i feel amused because the twins are named after the deadly virus. just like here in my country, some pregnant women name their babies when these are born during a calamity; hence, Lawin for the super-typhoon, etc.
