Do you prefer to buy shoes or clothes online or in store?

My mom called me today and said to go to the TJMaxx (department store) website and look at shoes. The site was down before due to covid19 but now it is back up for shopping, though for limited hours during the day.
There is a lot of variety and good quality shoes there. And the prices are good too. But just because something looks good and stylish on the screen doesn't mean it will be that way when you put it on.
I hate buying shoes (or clothes) online because if something doesn't fit or doesn't look good on me I have to deal with returning it by either going to the store, or shipping it, if there is no store returns option.
Aside from that, if I return the item but the return doesn't go into the same billing cycle as the purchase, I still have to pay for it. Yes, it will get credited on the next statement but, that's something I don't want to do.
Shopping in the store is the best. It gets you out of the house but, most importantly, you try what you like and if it is not good you put it back on the shelf and move on. Don't need to deal with returns. And if it is cheaper online you can always get it there since you already tried it on at the store and know it is good for you.

I don't like buying clothes and shoes online. I'm always disappointed. As you said, the item always looks different when it arrives and sometimes it doesn't fit right. I'd much rather go to a physical store, to find whatever I need.

A lot of times when my mom buys me something online she ends up having to return. Same when I order stuff myself. That's why I stopped. The only thing I may order online is Victoria's Secret panties or bras.

Since I can't get around I shop for clothes and shoes exclusively online. Sometimes I do have to make a return which is a pain.

I like to buy it at the store but nowadays it can`t be possible. So for now, online is still good

Right now I am holding off buying shoes or clothes online. I can do without that now. I'd rather wait till I can go shopping again to look for stuff.

I hated to buy clothes from the shops once. Because not so good in selection of clothes. So it took me over hours and hours to get a perfect match. The I have tried online shopping which was a good way for me as it was reasonable price and wide variety of products. But the quality was not as expected. The quality was changing from products to products. So there are both advantage and disadvantage for the shopping through the online or from offline shops.

It's true that you can find more variety and more options online. However, you can't try stuff on and there is no guarantee they will fit me or look good on me. I think I would shop online for clothes or shoes as a last resort.

@lovebuglena But in the online there are options for return or exchange. By which we can rebuy the products, if its not good.

@bijoyju you have to mail the stuff back or return to the store, if there is a physical store. Either way, it’s a hassle to do.

Regardless of your size, the item you buy in your size may not be a great fit because of the brand or the country it’s from. The cut may be different and the size may run bigger or smaller.

I must admit for all the reasons you mentioned, I prefer online shopping. I hate to try on all the stuff in hot small cabins with horrible lighting. I order clothes and shoes online in different sizes and try them on when and where I want to. Sending them back is no hassle for me. I do sell lots on Ebay and alike and will have to go to the post office anyway.
But it's good to have a choice :-)

I had a bad experience shopping online. I bought some clothes and they have failed my expectation. The material was too thin :(

That's one of the reasons I do not like to buy clothes online. You cannot feel the fabric.

I remember I bought sneakers online once. They were not a good fit. Since it was an online retailer (with no physical stores) I had to ship them back. And I had to pay for the shipping.

@Nevena83 yes. And then you have to deal with returns, which is a hassle.

@lovebuglena Yes, that happens often. I know that many people here buy online and have a problem, because it happens that the goods are not as they are in the picture.
