She Growls!

Our dog Rio has this attitude of eating her lunch after the other dogs have taken their meals. She feels she is the most beautiful among all, that she has to eat her meals when the others sit around her and stare at her, salivating for her food. And she growls! I am the last one to collect her food bowl as I wait for her. When I try to push away her bowl for Zeus, her older brother, she growls not to Zeus but to me. She shows her teeth; she looks at me as if I will be the one who will eat her food, and she eats on slow motion. She finishes her food in 15 minutes while the rest are through in 3 minutes only. Really, I want to laugh, but I get irritated with her attitude. Do your pets have this unique attitude when you feed them?

Wow, she's very territorial LOL Sadly, we can't keep pets where we live.

@ridingbet Hahaha I wish. Ok, it used to be a posh complex but now not so much LOL It's a gated community with a mix of standalone houses and apartments. I live in an apartment with no garden space beyond the communal area.

We have no pets, the cats of my neighbors that I often feed, eat all together peacefully.

We have 3 dogs and the youngest and only female also has her own idiosyncrasy when eating. She just stares at her food like she is praying. If we would not urge her to eat, she wouldn't eat.

@ridingbet it is not good if dogs are fighting. We have a pug who is hyperactive and has the tendency to bite because he has bitten 2 people already. He is kept in a cage in the living room.

our aspin Trixie now eats inside the house. she is now partially blind because there is opacity in her pair of eyes. but when she and Macy the pure Japanese Spitz, quarrel over food, they both bite each others' ears that my son has to forcefully separate them by holding the hind legs of either Trixie or Macy. both have mild bleeding in their ears.

Lily (my cat) doesn't have an attitude when I feed her, but she does look up sometimes when I'm close to her when she is eating. My uncle's cats do have an attitude when my mother feeds them. One cat pushes the other away and eats the other's food. She has to watch them to make sure they eat their own food.

oh, like the 2 stray cats at the back of our house. these cats meow during the dogs' feeding time, so we give them lunxh too. the 2 cats try to scratch each other with their paws because each of them want to take the other's food as well.

though our dogs are mix-breed, they have the same style of showing their love for us. they want to be belly-pet, hugged by my son, and shake hand/paws with them especially my son.

Don't have a pet so really can't relate to this. If I had a pet, I sure wouldn't let it growl at me.

Rascal didn't like anyone around him when he ate. He wouldn't growl, but he would back away from the person who came near him. He was abused before he came to me. Pip would put her head in the bowl and then look at you and smile when you came near. At first, I thought she would growl and become mean, but then I realized she was smiling. She was funny that way. Sometimes she would growl, and then she would hang her head and smile, letting me know she was harmless. I really miss them. They were such good dogs.
