Bakery thrift shops used to be very common, but you rarely see them these days. While I was out and about yesterday, I saw one so I had to stop of course. Most of what they have in their is cheap junk, but I was able to get some discount 40 calorie bread, and tortillas. I also got some cinnamon rolls, OK I couldn't be "all good." Anyway, Any of the ones I used to know about are long gone so it was fun finding that one. Do you ever go to these shops?

Yes, they sell bread and rolls that might be seconds or a bit old, or they couldn't sell the stock to stores. Nothing wrong with it..and cheap. The cinammon rolls I bought are normally sould for more than twice the price. It is a little hard to find 40 calorie bread too for a reduced price.

@snowy22315 It's a very good idea. My mother could never eat really fresh bread as it gave her indigestion. It always had to be a day or two old.

One thing that was scary here was an Aldi I used to go to about once a month all the staff became ill with Covid! They had to bring in workers from other places. I haven't been there since I heard that.

@Dena91 This one was not in our county but the closest one to me. I think there are about 75 cases in this county but I haven't heard of anyone I know with it.

@snowy22315 The girl who became sick built and named her bakery after her dad. She became sick with a rare cancer, not COVID. I know of no one who has had that even with 43 cases in our county.

Yes, I was surprised to stumble on one I thought maybe they were all gone, but when I saw it I had to stop.

They aren't as common as they used to be. This one was run by Wonder Bread, or whatever their parent company is, but I have seen some by Schmidt and other localized bread companies.

Now you're bringing back memories. When we lived in Houston, Texas, there was an Entenmann's bakery shop right up the street from where we lived. You could get their baked goods for half the price you paid in the grocery store.

You are lucky to have those bakery thrift shops there. We don't have it here although there is one bakeshop called French Baker that sells at 50% discount by 9 pm.

Yes, I think thrift bakeries are far and few these days. My Shoprite does have discounted rolls and bakery items. That's about as close to a thrift bakery we have nowadays.

Know what you mean. As far as I know, we got only one at their main baking building thrift shop. But you know what...I found sourdough bread baked by Safeway for just 2.99 a fresh loaf!

No, they are shops that sell baked goods maybe close to their expiration date or things that stores were over stocked with.
