Paatal Lok is brilliance personified in terms of story telling and content! What stands out is that it tells the naked truth of caste, gender and religious discrimination without taking sides and does not once lecture you on what side is right or wrong. Few scenes are stomach churning to say the least. An assassination attempt gone wrong serves as a brilliant vantage point to delve deep into the undercurrents of the Indian society at large, be it rural or urban India. Each and every actor playing the oppressed citizen has done a brilliant job. Jaideep Ahlawat stands out in a role of a lifetime, he underplays the character most of the time but when he gets his emotional outbursts, its fireworks! But, its not about the lead actor all the time. The supporting actors are the real heroes who come out with amazing performances and bring out the real story to the fore. Must watch!
