We are planning to try to have a baby soon

I debated on writing about this here but I wanted to tell people without anyone I know finding out yet. My fiancé and I want to have a baby together. I’m 36 (37 in August) and he’s 34. My daughters 16, his son is 14 and my son is 12. The age gap will be huge but I always wanted more kids. After my children’s father died I never thought I’d ever have any more. We are planning the wedding for July 31, 2021. If we wait until after that to have a baby I’ll be 38 or older when the baby is born. So we decided to try soon instead then put off the wedding until the following year. If I’m unable to conceive then we’ll stick to the wedding in 2021. He and I are both really excited about this. We are hoping if we do have a baby it’s a little girl. He wants it to look just like me. I want to wait three months to wait until the medicines I’ve been taking are out of my system. I’m still on the Celexa for depression but May 31st I stopped taking Lamictal and the birth control pill I was on. I’m doing great so far. Having a little more hyperactivity and ocd without the lamictal but not too bad. He wants to only wait two months before trying. I need to do some research. Photo is a decoration I saw at the jewelers where I got my ring resized this weekend. My ring was a 5 1/2 and they sized it down to 4 1/2. It fits so much better.

Congratulations! I wish you the best, and think it's wise to make sure the meds are out of your system. How exciting everything sounds!!!!!

@DianneN I wish I wasn’t so old so we could wait a year. One thing I read from the March of Dimes said to wait a month after stopping medication to conceive. That doesn’t seem long enough to me.

@DianneN I’m going to call tomorrow. The medicine I am still taking for depression I want to know the risks. It’s a high does and the things I read online aren’t good. I’m going to ask her about that and maybe take half a pill each day to see how that goes. I’m doing fine without the mood stabilizer but I don’t know if I can go without the anti-depressant.

@shaggin I would definitely ask my gyno before venturing into anything like that. Best of luck to you.

Yay congratulations. I would probably consult your doctor to see when the best time would be for you to conceive!

@infatuatedbby I actually did call and the lady said I didn’t need to wait that we could start right away. I know from the research I did that the lamictal stays in my system for 14 days so I wouldn’t have taken her advice and started so soon.

@infatuatedbby it was a doctor. I didn’t feel very safe with her answer. We are waiting until after the wedding which will be just over three months by then that I’ve been off the birth control and lamictal.

@shaggin It was your doctor you spoke to or a nurse? Glad you’re doing research because I wouldn’t have liked her quick response!

I think two months should be safe, but do some research first. Congratulations, this is a wonderful decision you are taking.

@LadyDuck the info I looked up says after 14 days the lamictal is out of my system. It hasn’t even been that long yet but the doctor said we don’t have to wait and can start anytime. She wants me to cut my celexa (depression medicine) in half though. I’m not listening to that I’m still waiting the three months to play it safe.

@shaggin I think that waiting is safer, no matter what the doctor says, why to take risks only to advance of a few weeks the date?

@paigea I think so too . I went to a little free library today and saw this book. I brought it home and after I get a positive pregnancy test in a few months I will read it.

@paigea me too. I look up all the time new places I haven’t been to see new ones. We’ve been to 48 different ones the past few years.

Thank you. You all here will know long before I announce it on Facebook if I do get pregnant. I want to wait to tell people on there until I’m past the three month point in case I miscarry.

@sallypup if we wait three months it will be August 31st we can try. If I got pregnant that day it would wind up being exactly one year from today and be my children’s father and my wedding anniversary. That would be very weird for my fiancé.

You need to consult a gynaecologist and have a thorough checkup before you plan a baby so that your body can cope well during pregnancy.
