NASA has already landed it's rover on mars and soon in the coming decades there will be possibility of humans to settle down there permanently.
Now if NASA offers you a free one way trip to MARS will you be willing to settle down in MARS?

What, we haven’t messed this planet up enough? We have to go mess up another planet, too?

@jayanth_77 — no, I’m too old, and I don’t think the Veterans Administration would pay the mileage for my visits to my doctors.

I don't think people would like to go there. What will they do there alone?

@jayanth_77 I have most of that already!
Mars is too boring to live on for me. I need my oceans.

@DianneN ok. But in Mars you won't have the pollution, bad traffic and crowded places. You will be free to explore new places

If you are provided everything you will ever need. A cook to cook all favourite dishes, a chaufer to drive you around, a palatial house and lots of staff to take care of your every need. Won't you be interested?

Ok. there is no compulsion to go to mars. What will make you change your mind and consider Mars as a good choice?

Yes. Being old does impose a lot of physical restrictions. Also being close to family and friends is important. Now if all your friends and relatives also join you then will you be interested?

If one is going to Mars make sure you know how to grow potatoes. Potatoes can grow in 'extreme' Mars-like conditions, a new NASA-backed experiment shows. Mark Watney, played by Matt Damon, survives by fertilizing Martian soil with his feces, slicing potatoes, and planting the cuttings in the soil.

No, because it is so unknown. Also, I read that people who do it, will not be able to return to Earth.

Nice to know that you are interested for the 1 way trip to mars.
Few other myloters have also shown interest.
Actual planned man landing on mars is at least a decade away and it will take still longer to mass colonise mars with necessary infrastructure in place before that.
