Ferries are ships for transporting people and goods on shorter distances. They most often drive between the mainland and the island or between the islands. Many say that it is much more comfortable to ride in them than, say, on boats or smaller boats.

I did 5 times.
Java -Bali 3 times. Bali lombok return (2 times).
According to me many ferries are dirty in my place. Since it's bigger than boat/speedboat, its more stable when hit by the wave. But still we can feel the move and some of us might get headache, stomacahe and want vomit.
I ever taken some types of water vehicule :traditional boat from wooden (jukung), fastboat, ferry, catamaran, open deck + cabin boat (economist varian of phinishi lol), and big ship that could accomodate hundreds to thousands people.
