Yes, my daughter-in-law received a $50.00 fine, be we aren’t going to blame the doggies.
Cody, the Norwegian Buhund in front and Tiki, the Shiba Inu in back are both getting old. Cody needs to go out for a walk immediately when he has the urge or else!
He had the urge recently, and my daughter-in-law leashed both dogs up in their harnesses as fast as humanly possible, took the elevator 8 floors down, rushed them through the lobby, and outdoors to the nearest tree in the nick of time.
Unfortunately, in her haste, she forgot her mask. She was given her one and only fine.
She told me she deserved it.

That’s sad, especially considering the World Health Organization said yesterday that asymptomatic people don’t transmit.
Have your daughter-in-law make the WHO pay the fine.

My son in law heard this but wasn't sure yet if it was legit. The thing is any of us can be contagious before we know we have it even if they find out that no one is contagious the two weeks before most illness can spread there days before the symptoms arrive.
I thought when that term was being used previously it meant that some will never get covid but may still be spreading it?

I guess she is going to have keep one at the ready. I wish they would fine the dunderheads around here that go around without masks. There are times though when you forget to grab one for some reason. I usually keep them in my purse to have one ready..but yesterday I had locked my purse in the trunk.

The funny thing is they keep masks and gloves on a table next to the dog harnesses and has always worn a mask went she left.
I think the entire country should be fined. The virus is rampant and still affecting so many.
I keep masks on a foyer table, in my purse, and in the car. However, I never go anywhere.

@DianneN I am especially in agreement with this since we just had a break out at a fish processing plant here. 124 employees have tested positive. Only a couple of them felt sick. They are interviewing families and testing those who are symptomatic. I worry about how many of those are the yahoos that shop at the grocery without masks.

Yikes! I am glad that she got him out in time--I think as this virus continues to unfold, you will start to see more fines etc for lack of a mask--

@divalounger I don't go out anymore to see that. I only walk in my yard and quiet neighborhood.

She was in a hurry, unfortunately, it happens and someone can't wait to write a sentence

Yes, she was extremely hurried, but the masks were in a container near the dog's harnesses.
It's a law in Manhattan to wear a mask at all times now. My son told me they even have a nightly curfew, which I didn't know about. He still walks the dogs after curfew before bed and no one bothers him.
Oh, well. It's over and done with now.

@DianneN Ok I understand that but the woman didn't do it on purpose because she doesn't follow the rules but because she forgot, and that happens

Oh wow! We are supposed to wear them outside of the house here too - but I am not aware of any fines for not wearing them. If there was, the city/county would make a killing because a lot of people are not wearing them (it seems most only wear it in stores/public). A lot of people are not wearing masks just being around the neighborhood (but we do!).

@DianneN A friend told me her friend in Japan says the fine there is equivalent to $1000 . . . that would surely make everyone shape up about wearing them. But in Asia, people have worn masks for years when they are sick - it's not a big deal for them. I just read from a friend's link on FB about people revolting about wearing masks in CA as we reopen - just great - I know some counties are already not requiring masks. Seriously, the numbers are going back up again . . . think, people, think!

@much2say A fine that high should keep the covidiots wearing their masks! I know that about Asia, and they have the right idea.
I'm appalled at your CA news!
Just today, I read that a myLotter said she was healthy, so never wears a mask! What a stupid thing to say. Her state is one of the states with cases zooming.
How stupid can people be?????????? I have to move to Antarctica, but won't take a plane or a boat.

Wow I didn't realize that people were getting fined if they didn't have a mask. Sorry she got a fine but I can certainly understand the urgency to get the dogs out.

Masks are not required here but encouraged. However, its not as bad down here as it is in NY.

@kobesbuddy Exactly. Now, the fine is just water under the bridge. It's my granddaughter's birthday today!

@DianneN We all have a tendency to forget, when we're under pressure. Her mind was on the urgency of getting Cody outdoors, before he had an accident.

That's too bad, they should have been a little more understanding but on the other hand I wish they would fine people here, too many don't bother with the masks, it's a shame but I suppose if they get sick they can blame themselves.
Your grandpups are beauties,

@DianneN Wow, I will admit, it really surprises me that they are fining people for not (or forgetting) to wear a mask in public.

@LeaPea2417 I guess it's because NY has had the most cases in the country. I think more places should make people wear masks and fine them. A mask doesn't protect you from getting the virus, but it can protect others from getting it. There sooooo many people in NYC.

Sorry that happened. Masks are suggested here but not necessary. If they tried that I believe you would see a lot of riots from Ohio

Is that in CT? To my knowledge people aren't being fined here for not wearing them otherwise more would comply. I wear mine indoors but rarely when I'm outside.. It's always in a pocket though in case other people are in my vicinity.

@DianneN well New York I heard was hit the worst and maybe Manhattan too. At least it wasn't a higher fine.
I can't imagine having to take the animals out for the potty in a large apartment complex. I'd be pooped out for sure. Pun intended, back at ya.

The dogs are so lovely. Sorry about the fine.
I forgot my mask once but gladfully, we were only walking at the lake and I kept my distance from the others. It is only a must to wear a face mask here when going inside a shop or an office. We are given the self-responsibility to ourselves regarding our health during this pandemic.

Thanks. She is the first to admit that she deserved the fine.
Same here. We need to wear a mask whenever around other people or inside any type of store, although nothing much is opened here.
When I walk on my street or neighborhood, I don't need a mask, but if someone happens to walk near, we all social distance ourselves. If I walked at the track, a garden area, I would be required to wear a mask and only walk in one direction. No parking cars there either.

@DianneN It seems that we are getting to normal here. Today at the lake, plenty of people were with their families and kids though with social distance from each other.
We automatically walk now far from the other people. We still have to wear face masks and do social distancing when going to a shop and offices..
