I Became a Grammy

12 years ago I became a grandmother for the first time to a beautiful baby girl. My son and daughter-in-law were young, married for two years, and both had thriving careers as New York City lawyers. My daughter-in-law quit working to be a stay at home mom, and the day of our granddaughter’s birth had just returned from the gym, found a note from the contractor that the work on their new co-op was completed. We received a call that evening, and drove like lunatics to the hospital. Our beautiful new baby was born through natural childbirth and that’s the first photo of me holding her just moments after. The rest is history! I love her to the moon and back.

My parents said that it's a different feeling when you see your grandchild compared to giving birth to your own. I hope mine will not come until the next 10 years or more.

Thanks so much. I spoke with her this morning and she told me she loves me so much. It made me cry. I was finally able to tell her that I loved her more.

@cool83 No, I enjoyed my children in the meantime, and preferred that they were prepared and well settled before having a child. It was worth the wait.
