Rumors about school next year

The governor's administration has not yet provided guidance to school districts for the upcoming school year. That being said there have been rumors flying around that in-person school won't resume until January 2021. I've heard that from several sources.
I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised if that is the case. COVID-19 isn't going away any time soon and I have no idea how you can practice social distancing in a classroom, on a bus, in a cafeteria, etc. There is going to be a second wave of the virus in the fall after things open up and go back to "normal".
Trying to teach virtually after 19 years of doing in person has been quite challenging. The district is going to have to provide some serious professional development and training for us if they are going to stay closed for part of the upcoming year.
Do you think schools will re-open in August/September?

I think most school districts will be re opening in the fall, but I am sure there will be lots of social distancing rules in place, which I am sure students will be challenging. You are pretty close to NYC though, and I think NJ has a lot of cases, so I guess you will have to wait and see.

If by that time they have figured out a way to treat and control the virus, then sure! It's just like any other contagious disease. If there's an outbreak you stay home! When the outbreak has been controlled then you can go back out again. I remember as a kid being quarantined because of a measles outbreak. OK. So I missed some days in school. But I'm alive!!

We just took a survey about that for our school district. From what I am seeing on social media comments, most people are for online courses for fall (even though most of us hate this type of learning . . . but most of us don't feel the conditions at school will be safe for students and teachers/staff). Budget cuts galore - I don't even know how they could bring schools up to par with suggested guidelines. This is just a couple months away . . . with the case numbers rising, I'd have to say schools will not reopen for August/September.

No idea.
There are too many rumours and not enough facts here.
If the Gov simply said we don't know it'd be better than all the BS we are bombarded with.

I don't know. At first I thought "yes"; but now I'm not sure.
