Today's Excitement.

That money we didn't spend skiing? I guess we just had to spend it on something. So, today we got a truckload of shale delivered. When they replaced our well, the machinery dug up our driveway and wrecked the layer of gravel. So, we get puddles and mud. All fixed now. Well except for some shoveling to even out a few spots. The truck did a pretty good job of spreading. Hubby told the trucker that his wife (me) was coming out to shovel. The trucker said, " I left her a bit of work, she'll be out of your hair for a while." We will see who is out of whose hair @MALUSE who's hair or whose hair?

'Whose', of course! You aren't pulling my leg, are you?

Well the hair belongs to someone! I second guess myself sometimes! And fewer and less are another problem!

@paigea I can't believe it! My German pupils were able to learnt this!! Haven't you read my last post? Print it out and put it under your cushion. :-) Here is the last para as a special service for you: "There’s much, much more to say on the topic of correct writing, but let’s leave it at that. If every member took the above explanations on board, they would make fewer (not less!!!) mistakes. 'less' can ONLY be used for singular nouns. If you've got a plural, it's 'fewer'. ALWAYS! NO EXCEPTIONS! For some inexplicable reasons many native English speakers hate the word 'fewer'. If they didn't, they'd make fewer mistakes." I'll go to bed now. It's past midnight. I hope I'll recover from the shock I've got from your comment.

@MALUSE I hope you've recovered from your shock by now. Unfortunately, those of us with English as our main language don't know it as well as those of you speaking a different language from birth.

@paigea It is a nice colour, we have the tiled pathway that is a similar colour, it is a lot nicer than grey.

I like it too. It was the colour already here when we bought this place. It is common in driveways in this area.

My driveway hasn’t had a load of gravel put down since my grandfather lived here in 2001. It’s not in the greatest shape. That shale they put down is beautiful. I didn’t think shake was red.

I don't think it is always red. But around here it is. Baseball diamonds use red shale.

I'd make sure I got into hubby's hair a time or two after that remark. Regarding who's or whose: Who's is really saying 'who is' so if 'who is' doesn't make sense then it's 'whose'. 'Who is hair' doesn't work so it has to be 'whose hair'.

Excellent although it will pay dividends in time when it rains and you are not having big puddles everywhere. At least the money has not been squandered and you spent it wisely!

My driveway-access road needs some of that shale. I presume you are done with the job of telling your husband a thing or two?
