This song trivia series has been focusing on bad weather....namely "rain." I've had plenty of rain here in New Jersey (USA), going back as far as January, so I thought this song subject would be appropriate. And maybe by doing a rain series it will bring about more sunny weather in my state. I think it working as we had some nice sunny weather this week. But for now , time to get "soaked with some rainy tunes." Knowing if it's going to rain is important when making your plans. Especially the "state" of the rain, like will the day be a total washout or not. With that in mind let's see if you can figure out the proper states of rain in your attempt to solve today's song clues. But first, here's our bonus video to introduce the rain songs...Those farmers in the Midwest were in a terrible financial "state" when John Mellencamp wrote this tune. And "Rain On The Scarecrow" could apply to the farmers today as they struggle with crop picking, China and the Corona Virus. So, enjoy this rainy tune as we wish for some better days for those farmers... Now it's on to our trivia clues. Whodunnit? 1. In this sentimental soft-rock ballad the singer goes on a cold and rainy search for the woman who left him without explanation. Aside from peaking at #16 on the Hot 100, the single reached #3 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Eddie Rabbitt who performed and co-wrote "I Love A Rainy Night" also had a hand in writing this rain song recorded by this artist. The singer recorded this tune along with other material during a 2-week period at American Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The artist was an avid gun collector, practiced Karate, and acted in 31 films, but was never considered a serious actor. His televised concert "Aloha From Hawaii" was the first global satellite broadcast devoted to a solo entertainer. Do you know this early icon of Rock n' Roll and his "state of rain" song? 2. This "peachy" song is about the times the singer spent with her love in the place of her childhood in a certain "rainy state." She notes that although everything has changed over the years, that one thing remains the same; her affection for her first love and the rain that still falls there, reminding her of the experience. This tune peaked at #15 on the charts, the artist's first Top 40 country hit since 2001. The singer's husband, Garth Brooks, provides backup harmony vocals for the song. This singer has also been successful in other projects. She published three successful cookbooks, which appeared on The New York Times Best Seller list. Do you know who this Southern artist is and her rainy piano ballad? 3. (Bonus) John Mellencamp wrote this song about a high school couple falling in love. Just two kids in love in America's heartland. In the song's video his high school photos and home movies were used. The male in the tune was a football star the female a debutante. The title of the song is a combination of the couples names and both are mentioned throughout the song's lyrics. Do you know the name of this little ditty which became a #1 song? Ok, let's "stop that rainy day feeling" and solve these mystery songs and artists. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or, as the band Jefferson Starship would say, you can "Count On Me." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! Until next Saturday... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com Photo- fanpop.com

Elvis Presley with Kentucky Rain. I probably saw all 31 movies and enjoyed them all. I went to pick up some fruit and made it home just before the rain started. No raindrops fell on my head today.
