When you move to a new place what is important for you to have there?

I am looking for a place that has a strong door, that has a porch, that is roomy enough for to sit on and put my swing chair. The area to be filled with places I want to go to. A place for my scooter so will be easy to charge. A place that has plenty of room for my cat and what we have to put in it to be able to move around in.
So, tell me what is important for it to have when looking for a new place to live?

When we were scouting for a home in the suburbs (we were from the city), on the top of the list is garage and second is space for planting.

@DocAndersen
So does that mean because you are downsizing that you are going to move or just downsizing?

@Hannihar thanks - we are getting ready to downsize, so we've thought a lot about what we want

We want to find a place that has at least 3 bedrooms, some acreage so we can roam about freely, and be in a rural area. Not that we don't like people, but want to be able to go outside and not have someone gawking at you while you are relaxing.

@Hannihar I hope so too. Will take a while though. My husband is still not employed.

I understand that it will take a while for me too and not only funds are a problem but because of the virus I will not go in person to check out places so have to look online.

I like space, but I also like nature. So if I was to move, I'd want it to be in an area where I can atleast feel as if I am in a rural area, even if I am in suburbia.
I would want one extra room that can be used as a storage type of room, but also something that could be used as a guestroom too.

@Hannihar Yes, I think i would choose the smallest room for that purpose. I would want to organize the items in a way that it looks nice.
I saw a picture on the internet a few months ago of a person's "guest room". The woman replaced the mattress and box spring for the guest bed with containers of her craft supplies.

Thank you so much Vicki. I found here we can only go to certain places because it is not safe for us alone everywhere. I also need a place where I can use my scooter.

I first of all have to get my funds straightened out because someone now is opening my mail at my P.O. Box and not getting what waiting for. I need them badly. I still have no clue about the stimulus check. I may have to find a number and call because no toll free from here. It is very hard because I cannot go look so have to see what have online and not sure if that will help. Financially he is costing me lots of money by staying here and I will never get the money from him. I doubt if he will move and it is very hard to move with a cat. So, I am stuck.

Important to me - is to be in a nice area - no crimes and not a lot of loud/disruptive (so away from children as much as possible) I like to have a inconvenience store close by and plenty of storage space.
Is a move in your future?

I am not sure Faye. I need to get my funds straightened out because no one else will help me and I am not getting them so cannot do much right now. I am thinking of it unless that bully and we have an overhaul of this building. It seems like when people move out of here they leave things behind not caring. They think the bomb shelter is their own personal storage area so plop things down there that they could keep in their apartment. it is not fair. I have one thing there and they make it harder and harder for me to have my scooter there. I am with you I do not want to be in a place with all these children and their strollers. It looks horrible there.

You are so right. I thought of that today. My finances are first to deal with then things that I putting off that have to be done and then whatever else is left and seeing what is out there if the bully does not move out, which I get the feeling he has a good thing making my life miserable here and he has just himself and no pet to consider when moving. The last move to here was a nightmare not only for me but for my cat I had at the time. About my scooter the landlord would not help. I am thinking of letting him know what that bully does to annoy me.I am still considering involving him, but, he is so busy with his life so not sure if he would be able to help me out.

@Hannihar I just noticed... I meant convenience store... not inconvenience store. lol!
At least you are aware of the steps needed. Just work on one little thing at a time. I hope you can get some help with the finances.
Is there anyway you could involve the landlord or manager to help you keep your scooter in a better location?

It all depends on your need as a person at the moment, some need more space, others more comfort, others may get out of an unpleasant situation with neighbors and seek tranquility. As I said, it depends on the situation of each person or in any case, the budget.

Can you tell me what you would look for in moving to a place. Thank you for all that. I found I moved from one bad situation to another and have to find a better solution for us. Life is very hard right now and still not sure what going to do.

Right now I have to straighten some things out and just check rentals. That is what I want to do is find a safe and secure place for us but not easy. I cannot afford to buy so have to rent and they are very expensive. So I feel very stuck and frustrated and wish someone would do something about him and have no one to do it.

@Hannihar As I told you, it all depends on your situation, I do not know it, but due to my situation I would move to an apartment in a safer area but it would have to be cheap due to my economic situation too, because it is I would only be a small space , which meets basic services and a covered parking.

The main thing I would need is peace and quiet. But you cannot always know if it will be that way until you move in and find out..then too late.

Me, it's convenience... I'm in walking distance to grocery store and a gas station. At Hele gas station little store I found hulled pumpkin seeds for a very good price. Bus stops near by and transit station for bus pass about 3 blocks away. I like first floor living for it's easy to come and go with groceries. Relatives and friends go to the grocery store near by so we visit from time to time. I found my perfect home and I hope you find yours.

The neighborhood and the access to the emergency facility, and the availability of the required services.
