My youngest has graduated.

It doesn't feel like it though, since the schools shut down in March and the graduation was not in a building, but on the football field and each student was only allowed to have 10 family members.. It was okay, except their speaker system was not that good, so we really had to concentrate on each speaker. They had 4 Valedictorians, 3 girls and 1 boy. The weather was perfect, even though the sun was hot the first 30 minutes or so, as it started to set, the air cooled off making it comfortable. It started at 7 pm, but my daughter said it should have started at 8:20 pm, because in military time that would have been 20:20. My son has his college orientation, and though he is the youngest, we probably won't experience the "empty nest" effect because the college is local and at this time he still doesn't have his car of license, but he does have a job, so maybe this summer that will be taken care of. How about you? Do you have a high school or college graduate in your family this year? How different was the commencement ceremony?

Congratulations to your son - wow, your youngest! I don't have graduates this year . . . . but we certainly saw all the graduation lawn signs around the neighborhood for various schools. I know many (if not most) of the ceremonies out here were virtual.

Yes, my youngest. I don't think it's hit me yet, but back in May I no longer had a minor and now he is no longer a high school student and will shortly become a college student.

@Carmelanirel2 Time has certainly flown . . . my gosh and he's no longer a teen anymore - wow. My daughter will get there in 3 more years, but my son still has 8 more . . . so I have a while to go. You must be so proud . . . he made it!

@much2say You know, I am not 100% sure, but I believe he was 4 or 5 when I signed up for MyLot and I probably made many posts about him. However, I got rid of the email so I got rid of that MyLot profile (Being new to technology, I didn't realize I probably could have just changed my email here) Now that I think about it, I don't think we can actually delete a profile here, I wonder if that is still around?

@changjiangzhibin89 I am clueless on where they are. I doubt I deleted them, but you know sometimes things happen. I even took pictures from MySpace to save, I looked everywhere. I am not too worried about it, but find it a mystery of why 6 years have disappeared.

Thank you, @changjiangzhibin89 time does fly. I spent yesterday gathering photos I have saved online to print out for his graduation party. Unfortunately I somehow lost 6 years of his "first day of school" photos. These are pictures I took every year on his first day of school (or if I forget, at least that first week) and some are missing. That's okay, I do have plenty of photos, including all his school pictures.

@gr8nana6 I don't get it, because I have been getting friend requests, so I don't know why you can't.

He is working at a fast food restaurant and already sick of it. I am sure he is looking forward to getting his degree and going into the field of education like he said he wants to do.

Is this your first grandchild to graduate? Last year my first grandchild graduated, then this year my son, followed by my other grandchild who will graduate next year. Yep, my son has 2 nephews, one a year older, the other a year younger.

Yeah, the schools first option was to have each student schedule a 30 minute time slot to receive his or her diploma in the school and could only have 5 family members. Needless to say, many families objected to that and I am glad, what they did was more like a regular graduation with family and friends.

Thank you, I am so glad he got something from all this, even if he didn't have a senior prom.

@Carmelanirel2 So am I. Since the lockdown started, I've felt so bad for the kids graduating without a ceremony and for those missing their proms. Those are once in a lifetime events.
