For my dear myLotters who loathe country music this set-up is working well in the current triple-header look at songs that don’t mention the title in the lyrics! Every third day there will be no country music! And, welcome to the third day! Here’s today’s well-known rock song with nary a mention of the title in the lyrics.
#11: Funk #49 - James Gang
There was a “Funk #48,” but I don’t think the other 47 ever got recorded. “Funk #49,” however, is one of the two best-known songs in the career of the James Gang (the other being “Walk Away”).
Younger people probably think this is a Joe Walsh solo song, or an Eagles song. Us old farts know better. Either way, who cares that they don’t mention the title? We all just turn it up and rock out!
Funk #49
Written by Joe Walsh, Jim Fox, and Dale Peters
Recorded by the James Gang
From James Gang Rides Again, 1970
I know where you’re going:
