Nothing like losing power for 90 minutes to make you appreciate electricity. This morning we lost our electricity and I wasnt' too pleased to tell you the truth. Can't have a hot coffee, can't listen to the radio or TV. Can't use the Internet. I felt completely lost. So picked up my book and started to read, at least reading doesn't need power. Then, suddenly everything came on again. Oh! What a joy! I don't think that I have ever been so thankful for the electricty that makes the world go round. "Hallelujah" for all the good stuff that I usually take for granted.

Same feeling when the water suddenly got turned off!!! (But you are right there, re: no electricity. The bad thing is, in summer, we can't turn on aircon, and in winter, we can't use gas heater - because electricity is required to keep the fan going in that system... We just can't win!!!)

We have a forced air gas furnace and could never understand why it has to be started with electricity.

@marlina I was very upset the few times we didn't have electricity during winter. Suddenly we ended up having no gas heater too... (so dumb design!)

I have a chair powered by electricity; and when it goes off unexpectedly, I get stuck with the footrest up!

You are so right. When my electricity goes out it really frustrates, but when it comes back on it's like the best thing in the world.

We can't blame ourselves for depending so much on electricity. At least there is always something to do that doesn't need electricity even if it is out of our normal habits.

I can't remember when the electricity went out here, it wasn't soon. But I understand you, I know that feeling

@marlina No, I agree, although it rarely disappears, somehow it always disappears when I don't need to, or when I'm doing something or when my washing machine is on

We are so spoiled. Can you imagine living as they did in 1790? No electricity plus no phones but they survived ..... I'm not sure if they were all happy back then but something went right, didn't it?

I don't think that has changed all that much regardless whether we have electricity or not @marlina Rich and powerful people will always be happier than the poor, it's been like that through the ages.

@rebelann , I don't think that everybody was happy then. There were a lot of bad stuff then to make life miserable. Yes, some survive, some did not.

@marlina I hate not having electricity when you need it to work. I can imagine how you felt when all of a sudden the lights went on again. It is true how we take things for granted.

There was a storm here earlier, but not drastic. My upstairs a/c is not working, so the storm kind-of cooled things off.

I'm glad you have the electricity back on. It is amazing what we rely on when we suddenly don't have it. I would be lost too.
