Mommy wrist or tendovaginitis!

Since I'm on maternity leave now I have to carry a baby a lot. And the biggest load falls on the wrist of my right hand. Maybe two months ago I noticed a sharp pain when moving my thumb. Being an experienced hypochondriac, I started googling symptoms and ended up having diagnosed myself with de Quervain's disease or tendovaginitis or mommy wrist, a very popular condition in new moms. Ultrasound just confirmed my guess. I applied ointments, underwent some physiotherapic procedures, got a tape on my wrist. No effect. It is believed that in this condition a cortisone shot would help but I'm concerned about the breastfeeding. So I had to get a plaster brace on my arm and it seems to help but when I take it off to take a bath and make some awkward move , this debilitating pain comes back. Have you ever had this condition, what caused it and what helped you?

Don't take stress on this situation and please stay under observation of good gynecologist. I wish your good health.

@SHOHANA thank you so much! Yeah, the baby is already 8 months old! So this condition occurred due to carrying him all the time. Hope it subsides as he learns to move by himself)

Thanks, dear! But it's not a gynecologist's area of expertise. It's a wrist condition, not what you thought:) but I hope it gets better with time!

I have a pain in my left arm. Not sure if it is the wrist or the hand. But sometimes when I move it a certain way or lift something I feel some pain. Hopefully, it will go away on its own, though I've had it for days already. Wonder what caused it. I never try to diagnose myself because I'd probaby give myself a diagnosis I do not have. Good that your self-diagnosis was confirmed by a doctor.

I'm sorry for you! Probably you should see a doctor about that. Might be the inflammation of the wrist as well. Have you been doing some monotonous work lately? The pain I have is really acute and sharp, I something even scream of it, so I'm not happy over it at all. Yeah, self-diagnosing is an evil thing. I hate it. And it was the only time my self-diagnosis was confirmed, thank God!
