I wanted to wish my dad a Happy Father's Day but when I talked to my mom today she told me he was sleeping. That was at around 1 pm. He didn't sleep well at night and kept waking up, so now he is out like a light. He will probably sleep through most of the day.
I am going with hubby to his parents' house for Father's Day dinner. Pretty sure his brother's German Shepherd will be there. I am afraid of big dogs, so would have liked it if he was left home, but doubt that will happen. I also haven't been to my in-laws' house since the pandemic started. Will probably feel weird and awkward being there. From what I know we will be having sushi for dinner, so that's great, though not sure exactly what hubby and his brother ordered.

I totally feel for you, I don't feel quite at home with my in-laws either. However I try to get on well with them, they are nice people and wish me well! Hope your celebration went better than you expected:)

Hubby started arguing with his mom and then with his brother about certain issues and they were very loud. I felt uncomfortable right then. Wanted to leave the table.

@Nakitakona the thing is they are wonderful people but quite different from me - I'm like a volcano, they are like sleeping lakes, let's say like that. Hubby once suggested living with them once, but I said NO:)
That drives me a bit crazy)

That's most reaction of everyone with their in-laws and I'm experiencing it too.

I hope you were able to enjoy the afternoon and that the dog didn't bother you too much. Sushi sounds wonderful, so I hope you enjoyed the meal!

@SHOHANA My weekend is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I work 4 days a week, and then get 3 days off. Do you only get Friday off as a day of rest?

It wasn't very stressful, however, the dinner started out with loud arguments between hubby, his mom, and his brother while we waited for his dad to finish what he was doing and join the table. I did not wanna be at the table when that went down.

Don't let the dog bother you. I'm sorry you're afraid. Dogs can be the best "pals". Have fun if you can.

My time there was more or less okay, minus while we were waiting for hubby's dad to finish what he was doing and join us for dinner. Hubby started a discussion with his mom and they started arguing and then hubby started arguing with his brother on another topic. By then I think his dad joined us at the table. I did not wanna be there when all that happened. We got together for Father's Day, not to argue over stuff.

And then at one point when I poured myself a shot of sake and closed the bottle his brother told me that I am supposed to take care of my husband first. Really? Who said? Also, not like hubby was pouring me shots when I ran out. He only poured me the first one and that was it. He refilled his shot glass but never mine. And he never asked if I wanted more.

How's your Father's Day? Did you get a time to greet your dad even if it's late?
