I found these ...while walking my dog... there was about 35 of them stacked up in small piles, on the floor, next to a big dustbin... So I picked up 6..., Couldn't really carry any more lol...
not sure what I'm going to do with them... but .., I really like them..., at the moment I am using one as a table mat to put hot dishes on...
Many people recycle by putting items near bins ...not in them.... over here in spain lots of people actually go round the various bins around town 'picking' the best items and then they put them on their second hand goods stall, at the local flea market....
I have occasionally picked somethings up myself...
last month I picked up a cabinet, it was quite tall and had 4 shelves..., I think it must have come out of a kitchen...
I took the door off and put it on the floor next to my desk and chair and its perfect for putting my craft stuff in. yyeeyyyy...
and it didn't cost me a penny lol

Those might work as a backsplash for your stove area, or as coasters as well.
Here in my area we have bulky collection day. Actually, we weren't able to have that this year with the virus, but most people go around and pick up items that people are throwing out to repurpose them for themselves. Then the city comes around to collect the rest.

@sueznewz2 I think there are some people who make good money by doing this. Some people put old washer and dryers out to be picked up, and others come around and take those items to the scrap yards.

People do that here sometimes too. I like my friend's story, which I've heard from others too - she put something on the verge with a 'Free' sign on it. When it didn't get taken, she replaced the Free sign with one that said $5 and it promptly got taken!! lol

Our son and daughter-in-law are getting ready to move and they put items out several times a day, not on garbage day, all working items that are free for the taking.
I like your tiles, our son had a similar pattern with blue and white on 1 of his bathroom floors.
I think its great to recycle like that, 1 person's trash is another person's treasure.

@sueznewz2 We can bring to the local charity, or call them and they come to get what we do not need anymore, it is even better.
