yupp I'm on extra walks and pee patrol today...
our little four legged friend has developed an allergy to grass this year... and had to have a cortizone injection... which as most of you know means he'll need to pass water more often... as we live in a block of flats and do not have a garden, that will mean extra walks..., but never mind, one thing about living in spain.... it's nearly always sunny.. lol
The vet suggested staying away from the grasses, (of course..very easy to do, no problem) as our dog is a little shortie, he also suggested.. that if the dog does go in the grass, then to wipe the dogs tummy ect with a damp cloth, which should help ...

@sueznewz2 Poor thing, I am glad that he is much better today. I have pollen allergies, particularly to the hazelnuts... we are full of hazelnuts bushes here.

I didn't really make myself very clear....@LadyDuck
it is not the short lawn grass he has developed an allergy too... it's the tall wild grasses that grow at the sides of the road... or something in that... sooo many different things grow at the edges in the taller wild grasses...and this is the first time he's had any problems... so it might be an insect in the grasses... we don't really ... but he is much better today...

@sueznewz2 Yes, that makes more sense to me now. There must be weeds in those tall wild grasses that the dog is allergic to.
I wondered how a dog could suddenly develop an allergy to grass. Silly me.

How odd. I've never heard that an animal can be allergic to grass. It's certainly easier to avoid fresh grass in Spain, especially in summer when everything is dry, than in England which is famous for its green lawns.
How did you find out about this special allergy?

Hi @MALUSE We noticed he was always scratching himself ... but could not see any fleas...but we did see some spots on his tummy... so we took him the vet...
I'm Sorry... I didn't make myself very clear really ... as you thought...it is not the short lawn grass he has developed an allergy too... it's the tall wild grasses that grow at the sides of the road... or something in that.. like an insect... there are sooo many different things that grow at the edges in the taller wild grasses... and this is the first year he has had a problem... but like you say it's not going to be difficult avoiding them as there are plenty of areas where there is no grass lol..

@sueznewz2 Oh I see. If it's just the tall grasses that would be a bit easier. I'm glad he's doing better.

I used to have cortizone shots for my shoulders. The poor little guy. Do you have a lot of grass by you or can you avoid it?

I didn't know that dogs could have an allergy to grass. At least you have places to walk that don't require grass.

That's right @Marilynda1225 we have plenty of places to walk without going near the grass... I didn't make myself clear really ... it is not the short lawn grass he has developed an allergy too... it's the tall wild grasses that grow at the sides of the road... or something in that like an insect maybe.... sooo many different things grow at the edges in the taller wild grasses... but he ismuch better today and has not scratched himself once since the injection... so that's good

I'm sorry he's allergic to grass. The walks would be beneficial to both of you.
