Is having cereal healthy or unhealthy? Do you like it?

Germany
June 24, 2020 2:59am CST
Hello Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to all my dear mylotters I woke up in a very nice weather again. Sunny and cool air. I love this kind of weather so much because I can go out for a good walk later around our place. Anyways, I have this little argument with my husband about this cereal meals. He said that having cereal meals is healthy since you also put some milk in it but I think it`s not so healthy since it`s like junk food to me. I don`t know about it. All I know is that I don`t like it for breakfast. So I had my vegetable sandwich more healthier for me and my husband had his cereal. How about you my dear mylotters? Is having cereal healthy or unhealthy? Do you like it? I hope you can share it with me here Have a great day and Happy mylotting Photo: google

May I ask what really is a healthy food? I wonder why people are now so concerned with healthy food.

Why should cereals be unhealthy? Junk food?? I find this a strange idea. Of course, you shouldn't eat cereals covered in sugar, but there are many healthy Müslis on the market. You can also make your cereal meal yourself so that you know what is in it: Haferflocken, nuts, dried fruit, milk.

Breakfast cereal made with whole grains and low in sugar, served with fresh fruit and low-fat milk can be considered healthy. But sugary are not. I like oatmeal served with fresh fruits and nuts.

I don't eat cereal unless it's hot oatmeal, but my husband likes granola with fruit and nuts and a little mil on it. I'm going for a walk soon as the sun comes up while it's still cool. Enjoy your walk!

The major ingredient in cereal is sugar. It has other nutrients too, but it's loaded with sugar and therefore unhealthy. My opinion. I don't eat cereal.

A cereal is healthy . Often had with milk and fruits. But if sugar is added it is not healthy . it adds to callories and causes weight gain.

Read the ingredients on the box or bag. Some cereals are good for you and some are not because they contain a bunch of sugar.

It totally depends on what kind of cereal he uses and eats. Sugar-filled junk like cornflakes are bad for your health. You could eat pure sugar instead to have the same effect. The only healthy "cereal" would be granola but even there you have to either mix it yourself or read the ingredients carefully when buying it. Most prepacked brands are cereal in disguise.

@m_audrey6788 Hi there, yes from time to time I like to eat some with milk. But not really for breakfast, more as a snack. You live in Germany? The basic fruit granola or nut granola (Müsli) you can find in every Discounter is the best. Aldi Süd has the one with the least sugar (the one with the nuts) but we mix it with the fruit granola. Just don't buy the brands like Kölln Müsli. They look good and taste great but are candy.

I love granola and usually add some fruit to it. Also with porridge if you add fruit to it that is healthy. Some of the high sugar content of cereals are not good but many cereals have added vitamins added to them. I will sometimes add cereal to yoghurt too.Thick Greek Yoghurt with some honey is delicious!

Most cereals have a lot of sugar. You need to read the side labels and choose the ones that don't have a lot of sugar. There are only a couple that are recommended - in Australia, Vita-Brits and Weetbix are good for starters.

Whether cereal is healthy or unhealthy depends on what kind of cereal you get. Something that has too much sugar or has a lot of coloring is probably not healthy. But cereal that has nuts, dried fruits, grains, or granola is good for you.

@m_audrey6788 Granola is very filling. A little can really fill you up. I am not sure if you have it where you live but I love granola with kefir instead of milk. Kefir is similar to buttermilk but I think it is thicker.

I believe that cereal is different with oatmeal A cereal is any grass cultivated (grown) for the edible components of its grain, composed of the endosperm, germ, and bran while Oatmeal is a type of coarse flour made of hulled oat grains (groats) that have either been milled (ground) or steel-cut, or else it refers to rolled oats Thank you so much for sharing and dropping by here.
