Who pays Covid-19 patient fees?

covid-19

I was shocked and angry when I read the news that Corona Covid-19 patients in the hospital had to pay the full cost of treatment until they recovered. What is certainly very expensive, can reach hundreds of millions of rupiah. So what if the poor are affected? Even though the state has poured funds reaching trillions of rupiah, then where did most of the money run off to? How about the conditions in your country, are they the same?

I just pray God to keep me and family away from this covid 19. As I learnt the hospitalisation charges in private hospitals are huge and a common man can not afford it. The government hospitals however are free I think.

I agree, at least the government is willing to bear some of the costs.

We have health insurance that would pay for everything. I don't know who would pay for the uninsured.

@Babale I didn’t say that the government does not want to pay for poor patients. I said I don’t know who pays, but no one is ever turned away or left to die due to not having the means to pay.

So the government in your country does not want to pay for poor patients? I think the government must be willing to bear the costs because this is a national disaster.

If we have insurance the bill would be paid according to the insurance we have but there are many with no insurance so I don't know about them. I know the treatment would be so expensive the average working person couldn't pay it.

Gov. Already after those bills so it will not spread further but if people pays those bills, they will spread it more because its a heart breaking virus and costly to heal. So those area affected by bills has no good governance.

Well, I guess there is no universal health insurance in your country? In Germany, over 90% do have some sort of health insurance. Most have an insurance that would cover all costs. Does make the situation slightly better but not really great :-(

There are so many types of insurance here, but usually they make it difficult when members want to file a claim. Except official government insurance.

Then how about those who do not join the BPJS program, is the government willing to cover the medical expenses? No right? That is what I mean.

Indonesia actually has it too. People are required to pay monthly for health insurance. Unfortunately many people are in arrears, so the country has a huge deficit.

I believe it's the government. Or maybe some of it from the families.

For those who have a rich family, I don't think that will be a problem. But it is different with the poor people. I'm not sure the government wants to pay for all poor patients, maybe only a small portion.
