Chicken drumstick is sticking on a non-stick pan

It really makes me wonder why the chicken drumstick is trying so hard to stick on a non-stick pan. We have several such pans and I had used them all - the chicken drumstick sticks. It is not the marinade because we also fry chicken drumstick with no marinade or flavoring.

I always have problems with foods sticking to non-stick pans. Even when I use oil in the pan. Let me know if you find a solution.

I have experimented but it looks like the problem is with the chicken.

@moffittjc do you think I did not? I lost patience when they did not answer me.

@Alexandoy You need to have a talk with those chickens. Let them know that you expect them to be more cooperative when they are getting fried in the pan!

You must make the frying pan and the oil heat up first before putting the chicken

We did that already because that is the traditional way of frying here. Heat the pan before putting cooking oil.

@Alexandoy Is your fire in medium? because it must be in slow fire especially when it`s marinated

@m_audrey6788 the fire is on medium, yes, but even when the fire is on low, it still sticks. I think it is the chicken that has a problem. When we fry pork it doesn't stick.

@Alexandoy The chicken meat is very dry, the pork releases enough fat not to stick.

@LadyDuck maybe I have to do more experiments but the issue is pointing towards the skin of the chicken.

I suspect that it is the chicken and not the pan. Frying pork does not stick.

It is the skin that is sticking to the pan. I don't know why.

I don't eat chicken but I think if oil is less and not hot enough to fry then the chicken will stick to the bottom of pan . I faced the same problem when i was making a veg fried dish.

The heating of the pan before anything else is a must here as per our traditional cooking. But it doesn't work with the chicken.

@Alexandoy Oil also need to be hot with little smoke coming before you put the chicken to fry.

@jayanth_77 we do that always when frying. The skin of the chicken becomes sticky when it turns half cooked.

I think sometimes there's wear and tear on the thin teflon coating especially if there are people in the house ( like maids or relatives) who use metal cooking utensils on non-stick pans instead of polymer or wooden ones.

@Alexandoy thin chicken skin would go at those invisible holes first instead of thicker pork, that's my theory

@louievill yes, I see that it is the skin that sticks.

I have a cast iron but it is heavy so I am not using it for simple frying.

The drumsticks look really good. I have a non-stick pan but I still put some oil on it every time.

It is a ceramic pan that is fairly new. We have 3 non-stick pans aside from that. Any of those pans are no match to the sticking chicken skin.

We done that heated pan and the chicken has no marinade because it is for the dogs. But still the chicken would stick on the pan.

@rhuenz seriously, our dogs love fried chicken drumsticks but only 2 of our dogs because the 3rd dog is allergic to chicken.
