I tried this before with very poor results.
I tried it again with even worse results.
They say third time’s the charm, and they may be right!
I am growing celery!
I followed a DIY (do it yourself) website to grow celery. All I had to do was cut off the bottom section, place it in a bit of water, change the bit of water daily, and plant the celery when the leaves sprouted.
I’m excited to have gotten this far. Have you tried growing celery this way? How will I know when it’s ready? A farmer I’m not!

I've tried this several times and all I ever got from it was some celery leaves, which were dang good by the way. I have a brown thumb, somewhere between slightly green and totally black, lol.

I`m happy for you. I don`t have a garden and my husband don`t like too much plant around our balcony

We have never tried Celery. We did try some other plants. Some grew well, but in recent weeks, growth- especially that of flowers is not happening much.
May be some rains would help the plants in the coming days.

@DianneN The rains would have made the weather pleasant?
Here it is very hot and humid.
As per the Met department, Monsoons have covered the whole of India, but not sure when we would get the next rains.

Yes we have!! We started maybe late March? We had 2 growing in water jars . . . we transplanted them to soil pots about a month ago. Both are a foot tall - but not looking like a celery stalks (more like fireworks - sparklers), especially since a caterpillar got to the top leaves. With all the water and time going into this, I decided it was way cheaper and faster to go buy some at the market . I totally appreciate farmers now - it's hard work and on a grand scale for them. I loved the beginning stages of the growth . . . it really is exciting - and it changes every day !

@DianneN Keep growing it - it really is cute to see the little stalk growing like that! Hubby was saying he'd like to put some peanut butter on it as an appetizer . We just grew it for fun with no expectations . . . the tops were outgrowing the size of the teeny jars and the space on that small table, so that's when we moved it outside. But ours is in a container . . . maybe if you grow it in the ground it'd have so much more room to grow - then maybe you get your store size celery !

I hope you have a successful harvest with your celery. Sounds easy enough but I'd have no luck since both my thumbs are black.

No, I haven't tried growing it. You will see the stalks come up out of the ground.
