Engagement party jitters

Today was supposed to be our engagement party. The weather was supposed to be horrible so we changed it to tomorrow. It did pour for hours this morning until about 1pm but no heavy winds or thunderstorms like accuweather said there would be. Tomorrow there is supposed to be a thunderstorm at 1 but I’m crossing my fingers they are wrong. Even if they are correct hopefully the tents and everything will be okay and we can quick get things set up for the party at 2pm. It’s looking like about 20 people will be coming. Pretty much just our parents, siblings and their kids. I made macaroni salad, deviled eggs and cupcakes today. I have to frost the cupcakes in the morning and make one other thing. My fiancé is in charge of the salt potatoes, a grilled vegetable tray and all the meat. I wanted to share a photo with you guys of the rocks we painted. I did all but the cake. The cake was done by my very talented 16 year old daughter. The smaller rocks will go on the tables where people will sit to eat. The larger rock is going to sit a top the napkins to keep them from blowing away.

So... how did the party go? The rocks are all beautiful! And you and your daughter are both very talented! Uhm... did you save me a deviled egg? (Yes, I can make them myself but ones made by someone else always taste better. )

@Daddyevil the party was very nice. Calm. About 20 people including my fiancé his son, my kids and I. Thank you. I’m not very good but my daughter is amazing. No one took any of the rocks home with them though like I was hoping. So when I go out I’ve been leaving them places. I hope as least one gets posted as found. I’m taking some to Maryland with me tomorrow. Deviled eggs are so delicious. I ate the last two after the guests left that day.

@DaddyEvil I can only eat a few now and then. Being a vegetarian I couldn’t eat eggs for about 20+ years. I eat them now but sometimes if I eat more then a very small amount it grosses me out.

@shaggin You didn't even save me one? *sniff, sniff* (Had I been the one to make them I wouldn't have let anyone else have any! I like them that much! ) Oh, I'm glad the party turned out well for you, Dearheart. You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want. Have a good trip and stay safe.

@Courtlynn thanks. The cake my daughter made I am keeping. I was hoping the kids would take the rocks and hide them around town but nobody took any so I have been dropping them off places when I am out. I brought the rest to Maryland with me to drop off.

Gee it's too bad you had to make the food for it, somebody should have offered to do that, but I bet you had a great day anyway!!! so colorful!

@snowy22315 my fiancé’s sister offered to make a cake but I said I’d have her make one for our wedding instead. My mother asked if she was supposed to bring something but I said no we were making all the food. I wanted our guests to come and enjoy themselves and my moms a terrible cook anyway . I made these cupcakes

@DianneN it was a wonderful day for us and our guests but we did have one shower just before the party started and another about half way through which ruined the cupcakes I made . We all got to have some before it happened though thankfully. I had made so many though and was looking forward to the yummy leftovers so since I didn’t get to I made a smallbatch the following day

@JudyEv I love your new avatar. You are so pretty! The writing I actually have to admit I traced on the Mr. and Mrs. rock. It looked so nice the first time I painted over the pencil mark but each time I had to go over it with more paint it got more wiggly looking

@shaggin Thanks for the kind words. I don't really look like that - not much of the time anyway. It's hard to keep a steady hand when you're trying to go over lines a second time.

@Kendrise I’m sure it spoils lots of plans for people but even though it rained twice during our party it was still a nice time.

@louievill well one thing that didn’t go how I planned was the centerpieces. They were three mason jars in the center of each table in shades of rose gold. Inside each one was supposed to be real flowers. I bought a large potted plant that I was going to take apart and replant inside the middle of the three mason jar sets. I asked my fiancé to bring me a hand saw so I could take the plant apart. He didn’t bring it because he didn’t know what I needed it for. So I told him why I wanted it which shouldn’t have mattered then asked him to bring it the following day which was the day of the party. I got so busy with getting other things ready for the party that I didn’t wind up having time to replant the real flowers. Fortunately my soon to be sister in law had fake flowers she brought over for me to use.

@Shohana thank you. No one took the rocks home with them so I hid them around town and places I visited. I hid the final one tonight. I hope someone finds it and posts it on Facebook soon. I’d love someone engaged to find it.

The cake stone does look great and good idea to the the one to keep the napkins intact. I hope the storm goes elsewhere so nothing messed that party up.

@Marshamusselman I just finished hiding the last of these rocks today while I’m in Maryland. I hope to see at least one person post they found and enjoyed it. It rained heavy twice. Once before the party and once during.

@Butterfingers The weather thundered and rained before the party and then poured again for a few minutes during the party. It doesn't show on my end that it is posted twice so the administration must have deleted the duplicate one for me. I hope I didn't miss any of the comments that were posted on the duplicate one.
