Trivia for the Day: Antibacterial or Antiviral Drug?

Here's a little trivia for everyone.
Did you know that most antibacterial drugs end in -illin and -mycin, and most antiviral drugs end with -ovir?
Most drugs that end with -illin are usually descendants of the first modern antibiotic drug, Penicillin.
However, people have been using antibacterial medicines like honey and guava leaves in ancient China and Egypt. And in the Philippines, the traditional way of circumcision required young boys to put boiled guava leaves on their cuts to prevent infection.

That's good. Indeed, I even know some doctors who would prescribe herbs first before going with modern meds. But these people work in mountain communities.
As I was told, herbs are better when the patient needs to relieve discomfort. They would reserve medicine for the more serious cases instead.
