First Black Swallowtail Butterfly of 2020

While having coffee earlier I noticed a butterfly in Dustin's garden. Looking closer I could see it was the large black swallowtail butterfly. So excited. The first one to see this year, so far. He was visiting the purple blooms of the butterfly bush. I snapped photos but the wind was blowing. Photo is a little blurry. But you know I will get more later. Such an exciting time in the garden these days. These butterflies are gorgeous.

This black swallowtail butterfly is beautiful, getting nectar from the purple, butterfly bush! This is a nice shot, thank you Carol:)

@CarolDM Wow, I've never seen a butterfly that big, ever. Ours are quite small, the monarch is usually the largest one that we see.

@CarolDM Its very rare to see a butterfly of that colour here the Monarch is more common and settles easier on flowers its a very good photo.

We used to get them at the house. The caterpillars LOVED my dill plants. They grossed me out!

It is very beautiful and unusual, the other day I learned that my country has many species of butterflies and that the Dutch came here to photograph them ... interesting
