I am crazy about bromeliads when I was introduced to this pricey plant during my last visit to Thailand. I have a substantial collections of this species from many sources. I just can't get enough of this beautiful plant. Taking care of this plant is easy and they do not need soil to grow but coconut husk. They thrive well under shade. The only problem with this plant is they can burn a big hole in the pocket. Just too expensive. Anybody have any collection of this plant?

I think it is still fairly new and the Thai people are expect in cross breeding to produce different varieties.

I don´t have a collection of bromeliads but I have one in my living room. Easy to take care of. It is not expensive here.

There are cheaper ones too but those hybrid bromeliads are expensive.

@zandi458 for one period i was thinking of having a house and one room specially for plants, but i'm not sure i could take care of all of them. it's nice to have a hobby like that.

I don't know it is an expensive plant. Usually I think some kinds of orchids can cost a lot. I don't plant expensive plants. I don't have a confidence to plant it well.
