Off to Berkeley. Wish me luck!

I'm off to Berkeley to see if I can get some bucks for some old tube gear, some of which I got from the estate of a con artist who owed me $3,000 when he died. Long story. Wish me luck! I'll explain more and attach a picture later. Hope the Heavy from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul doesn't meet me at my door later this evening.

@TheHorse I have no clue but your line of work and Berkley never scared me. All I have to say is Go Rancid and cool welcome my friend. You should educate us though because its a trip for me to see how things really work these days. I think people would be sad but interested in how fast things are really moving. That is what scares me.

No no, the Heavy would be one of the "associates" the con man. He was a white dude from Mountain View, which is a pretty la ti da community. But he wasn't an honest man. In life, he actually REMINDED me of Saul.

I made it back home. I had to do some serious bartering. Saul and his Heavy weren't there. But a lady without a mask did come and breathe on me and the tech who were working on one of my amplifiers in the back of my truck. She may have been a Soviet Agent, tough she looked like a not-particularly-well-to-do Berkeley/Oakland local. Alas, I came home with the two main components (worth about $1500) that I went down there with. The price they offered me went up from $40 to "maybe $600" as we tested the units. What's nuanced and interesting is that the tech and I exchanged "trade secrets" as we worked, him about making tube sockets work, and me about woodworking and how to make grain beautiful. It was an interesting afternoon.

@DianneN I'm happy. I'm going to retest the units. How WAS that rack of lamb?

Good luck to you. You had to praise the no more glitches yesterday and this morning I almost could not open the posts, errors, errors, errors...

@TheHorse Better than this morning, but very slow now. I was ready to write a post to inform that I would have quit a few days because I could not even reply to the notifications.

I think I got only two error messages yesterday (Friday). Sorry about the voodoo curse. Any better now?

@TheHorse Not being beat up is always good. At least you know they are good.

I made it home. An interesting day. I may add to my post. Nobody has come to my door threatening to beat me up. I sold some stuff. But not the main stuff I wanted to sell. Hoever, one of the techs teted it for me. My units are basically solid.

@wolfgirl569 Yep. I'm going to test them out and bathe their knobs and switches in generic De-Oxit.

I read below that you sold some of the items so that's good.

Yep, I'm happy abut that. But I more or less "gave them away." The two fancy tube units are still in my hands. I'm going to test them again and then give them both a De-oxit bath.
