Those Cute Little Stinkers!

These baby deer were caught red-handed munching and crunching my plants yesterday morning by yours truly. After watching their adorableness for a minute, I noticed they had chomped down my hydrangea plant closest to the window. They have to eat, too, but I prefer they do it in someone else’s yard. I’m sorry, but I opened the door and said, “Hi, cuties. Go away!” and off they ran. Do you have critters attacking your flowers, plants, or gardens?

Cool photo of the babies. None here since the new homes were built

I am so sorry for your hydrangea, they surely know that the hydrangea is a medicinal plant. The only pests that munch my leaves are the locusts and those green warms that turn into moths, Bubi chews some leaves time by time, but he is not a problem.

@DianneN I cannot get mad with pretty animals, but the green worms and the locusts make me mad. I got rid of the green worms with the home made pesticide, but the locusts do not care at all. Bubi chewed my ankle yesterday evening, I suppose it was a way to say "see how much I love you".

@LadyDuck I have a deer deterrent to use. I should have sprayed last week, but we had rain for days. It's not harmful to the deer or other gobblers. So sorry about the locusts. I hope you can find a remedy to get rid of them. How cute that Bubi is! I know he loves you, and what a sweet way to show it.

The mama has chewed my large hydrangea in the backyard, too, but I will get blooms on it - just not on the parts she could reach. How are you doing with your solution to get rid of the locusts? Those little green worms are nasty, too. Bubi is such a good baby. He deserves a chew when he feels like it.

They are very cute. They dont seem to bother my plants too much here. But they have plenty farther out and dont have to worry about me yelling at them out there.

@DianneN They like leaves and many of those are probably too high up. Also flowers and bushes which are in reach in your yard

@wolfgirl569 You should have seen what they did to an arborvitae we had to get rid of. They trimmed it into an ice cream cone.

They really are adorable. I don't understand why they can't eat what is in the woods instead of eating my deer food.

They are adorable. Yes, there is a huge forest in my backyard. That's where they sneak out of to gobble my flowers.

@birjudanak They are very afraid at this age and run away quickly. The grown deer are more brazen.

One day I had to stop my car and shoo one of these critters out of the road! There was a truck coming and he wasn't slowing down Yes, they eat flowers here, while we're sleeping

Good for you. That deer and the truck could have been demolished. Yes, they do eat when we are still sleeping and nice and quiet.

@DianneN One night I was working midnight shift alone. There was noise, outside the nursing station window. I turned out the light, then gazed out. A deer was right beside the window, eating our Halloween pumpkins!

Cute indeed! The kind of critters I have which eat my plants don't run away when shouted at and most people would say they're far from cute! Slugs and snails and other such beasties are, of course, what I mean.

We have a woodchuck that we have been trying to catch in the live trap. The bugger has been munching on my sad little vegetable garden. It is bold as brass tacks too. You open the door to scare it off and it sits there with a mouthful of greens as if to say, wait til I have finished with my meal!

@DianneN we had a family of them a couple of years ago. The babies were cute, but they grow into hungry adults. LOL.

I know it's not funny. They are brazen little beasts. We had one, but Doodles scared it off the property. I don't know what I'll do if it returns.

No, the deer seem to go to the lot across the street. For all I know they also go in the backyard of the abandoned house next door. So far they are not eating anything I plant. Many people swear by taking Irish Spring bar soap and hanging it on plants they want the deer and other critters to avoid. I learned this at a nearby nature center.

You are so lucky! I tried the Irish Spring, but it didn't look too pretty. Liquid Fence and Deer Off do work for me, but when it was time to spray, we had days of rain. I just sprayed. Too little, too late.

We have deer that roam through and eat plants and ruin gardens. One of the main reasons I let my neighbors worry about gardens etc. I don't want to put in all that hard work for it to be demolished by the deer. But deer are pretty to see especially the fawns

We had a large garden in the backyard with a 12' fence around it. That worked. Now, I garden on the deck, but use Deer Off to repel the deer. I was due to spray last week, but we had rain for days. My fault, totally!

They are indeed cute. I am glad they ran away. No, critters on my balcony but the strong wind last night had scattered the pink fragrant rose blooms on the floor.
