Very sad to hear of the loss of Charlie Daniels today. He died at age 83 of a stroke at a local Nashville hospital.
He was a bluegrass fiddle player. Very famous for many years. His biggest song was called, The Devil Went Down to Georgia". He had many, many songs over the years.
Charlie Daniels won many awards over the years and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and was a member of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
Leaves behind a wife and one son, Charlie Daniels, Jr.
Country Music legend Charlie Daniels, best known for his monster 1979 hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” died Monday of a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83.

I loved his humor, such as the Geico commercial where he played fiddle in a French restaurant, and that hilarious line in "The South's Gonna Do It Again," "Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay, he ain't good lookin' but he sure can play!"
Rest easy, Uneasy Rider.

All day long yesterday I kept hearing CBD songs on the radio, and I couldn't figure out why. Then I read the news when I got home. A big loss for the country music world. I was lucky enough to see Charlie Daniels once in concert. Wish I would have seen him more, he put on a great show.

@CarolDM I didn't know this until I read the local paper, but Charlie Daniels was scheduled to headline our county fair earlier in the year, but it had to be cancelled due to COVID. I would have liked to have seen him one last time. That man sure could play a fiddle!

Yes, I was surprised by that one. Did not know he was even in his 80's. He will always be fondly remembered for his crossover hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Enjoy a blast from the past!

I can handle people older than me dying--Carl Reiner last week--but younger? NO!
