The myth about pop rocks and soda.
A kid ate 6 bags of pop rocks at a party. He then proceeded to drink a 6-pack of Pepsi. The two substances combined in his stomach and exploded, killing him horribly.

My favorite is the one about the needle on the toilet seat that will give you AIDS. It made me afraid of toilet seats for a year or so! But people would have to be pretty creative to get a needle where you couldn't see it.
