What's your specialty?

I was watching a movie several years ago and it was about a lady robot that had been built. It was a military project. But something went wrong and the robot's wires got crossed. So they had to call in a "specialist" to hunt down this crazy commando female robot that was roaming the street of America and either destroy it or deactivate at in order to bring it in for repairs. Got the plot? OK well if you understand the plot then you'll appreciate the dialogue in this particular scene. So this guy is a specialist. The best in his field and he's been called in to use his military skills to catch the robot. He meets with the lady who invented the robot to discuss the assignment. She tells him her specialty is … uuhh .... I don't know! … whatever special knowledge and skills a person is supposed to have who knows how to build a robot. She's the best! So, in turn, she asks the guy: “And what's your specialty?” Well after listening to her bragging about her education, skills, etc., he responds: “Uuhh … my specialty is a spinach lasagna.” I cracked up! Right! You're going to need that skill to catch that crazy robot! What's he going to do? Approach the robot and invite her to dinner? But that got me thinking: ~ How would you answer that question? Do you have a specialty? I can't think of anything that I'm so good at I could call it my specialty. I'm one of those “jack of all trades and master of nothing” types. I can't remember the name of the movie. But I did find a recipe for spinach lasagna, if you're interested.

Funny how you found a recipe to share! I don't consider myslef having a specialty. I love nature, birds, flowers. Maybe a bird whisperer.

My speciality is history. Not all periods, obviously, but especially the post-Roman era of Britain and some parts of Middle Eastern history

Sounds interesting. I don't know much about Middle Eastern history.

@cmoneyspinner One of the reasons I know about it is because I’m one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we learn about different nations that appear in the Bible, such as the Egyptians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, etc.

I don't know if I am an expert in anything anymore. When I was working, I was an expert in what I did, having had over 30 years experience.

Thanks for the laughs and recipe! I think my specialty (besides my family) was being a teacher. So many have told me how much I've changed their lives or the lives of their children, and I was nominated for Teacher of the Year. I turned it down, because it would have aftected the time I spent with my students - general ed and special ed.

WOW! Good for you! If they say you changed their lives that is high praise. There are many of my teachers, if I could see them I would tell they shaped my life. They had a great influence on me and the decisions that I made.

That's pretty funny. She really caught him on the hop it seems. I'm a Jack of all trades too. I don't think I have a specialty.

I'd tell her I'd do her taxes for her or balance her checkbook!
