The fruit called Chesa or Tiesa

In the picture is the fruit called Chesa which is another tropical fruit that is not available in the market anymore. The taste is creamy and the texture of the flesh is like avocado. It is nice to eat when there is nothing to eat. We cherished that when I was a boy.

There are no more orchards and people do not buy anymore. But I have seen in the Sunday market before.

@moffittjc yes, some do not like the very creamy texture even if the fruit is sweet.

It is my first time to hear this fruit. Why it is not available in the market anymore? It sounds to be a delicious fruit and it shall be popular.

@Alexandoy Why few people buy this fruit?

@youless maybe due to the changing times that there are now many foreign fruits here like the seedless grapes, apples and pears all year round.

It is a delicious fruit when you eat it not too often. It is not available in all markets because only few are buying.

I have no idea what that is - I don't think I've seen that here. Why do they not have it at your markets anymore - is it out of season now or is it that it is rare?

@Alexandoy Really? I looked it up - it seems other cultures eat that too - but it is yellow? I'll have to ask my Sri Lankan friend about that one!

@much2say yes, yellow when ripe. I think there is a variety that is red or blue when ripe but I have not seen that yet.

This is a native of Mexico and is called by various names, depending on where it's grown. Canistel is one of the names by which it is often known. The texture of the fruit is said to be like that of the yolk of a hard-boiled egg and can vary from being pasty to creamy, depending on the cultivar. It is often called 'egg fruit' (or some variation of that) in various languages.

Maybe a change of taste. We had the bell fruit in our front yard that was very prolific. When people here do not want to eat anymore, I chopped down the tree.
