Unemployment everywhere...

Just yesterday a supermarket in my city closed down permanently due to lack of customers caused by this pandemic. My country has gotten hit pretty hard by corona with more than 80,000 cases. Now, about 100 employees of said supermarket have lost their job and starting to panic and depressed. One of them is my neighbor. I wonder what can I do to help him? Maybe suggesting to him to search for a work online? Sorry for the sad news, I just want to share this and somehow get it off my chest.

@JohnKu we really need to explore and try new things this days as we cannot guarantee that our current work can stay long with the current situation.

@bbghitte Correct. The problem is that this pandemic is still ongoing so people who are trying new things or looking for a new jobs have difficulties in their effort to place some bread on the table.

One thing I dislike is that there are still people who won't wear mask, getting themselves infected, thus prolonging the whole country's suffering.

How awful for a supermarket to close! Things are closing up right and left hereto, but not food stores.

One reason is government here can't do much to aid businesses, so most of them are left to their own devices.

If they got specific skill you may ask them to do a freelance work. There is a lot of platform or website that allow you to do a freelance work, upwork is one of them. If not, then you may try to tell them finding a new job by online platform. Well for some other company maybe closed due to covid-19. But others also gaining profit from this pandemy, find this company.

Problem with freelancing platform like Fiverr is that for newbie it's hard to get client even if they have some skills. Buyers tend to choose people with good rating and reviews than newbie, even if the newbie has better skills.

I think this is the same everywhere. Hopefully the government can give some money to people so that they can survive from this hard time. In fact I already change some of my habits. Such as I will try to consume wisely and won't buy something that are not necessary.
