Have you encountered any Marriage Therapist?

I just today came to know about those when I was changing channels and saw a movie playing with title how to train my husband or something like that. So I started watching it and it was an OK kind of a movie not that great although from there I came to know about Marriage Therapist but even her marriage life was all messed up in the movie.
Are you aware of marriage therapist? Do you think they are any helpful?

Yes..I know they are available. But I don't think they are so common in India

Yes that's correct. I think marriage therapist are very common in USA?

I haven't encountered one and I don't wish to lol...but yeah I've heard about marriage counsellors and know that they try to settle disputes between couples, especially at the courts, when the couples are considering divorce.

@Butterfingers Yes not very common probably because the elders in the family play an integral part in the family setup as such and keep guiding the couple. Who could be better counsellors than them in case of any issues!

There are many marriage therapists in the US. Some are good, some not. If you ever look for one, be sure they share your values about life.

marriage therapist do councelling or give advice about how to resolve disputes in a marriage.

@Butterfingers I have known about them and also read about their Q&A in magazines. They practice privately and also work in family courts to resolve family disputes.
