yes ... many of our friends have given right answer to the question that it is due to the Hemoglobin in our blood ... but what is Hemoglobin actually? it is made up of 'Iron' which is a good carrier of the Oxigen and thats why the oxigen is cerculated with the blood. when iron reacts with oxigen and hydrogen it creates a blood red color cemical .. which makes it visible in red color.
One of my friend there has told us that blood is of blue color in our body ... thats whong.. human blod never changes its color from red. it only turns to dark red color after it releases the oxigen when it has to supply it to our organs.... so you will ask why blood apers blue in the vaines when we see it below our skin.
the answer is light and color of the skin which makes it apear blue.
thnaks friend .. that was a good science related question.

Blood is blue when it's inside you, until it's been oxygenated by the lungs/heart.If you look at your veins they're blue, if you get cut, then the blood has touched oxygen by being exposed, and turns bright red.
