A mother´s rol: just about anything. A rant.

Claudia has been fighting with her children´s school all day. And she has called me 3 times (long phone calls) to pour her troubles on my feeble shoulders.
Sofía´s biology teacher teaches them about muscles and tendons in a chicken thigh (online). Neither Sofía nor Claudia understand at all. The teachers excuse for not showing it well is because that thigh was going to be part of a roast chicken she had for lunch. OMG!
Claudia reads online and teaches Sofía. They do the homework together and they hardly pass.
So Claudia deciedes to do the next homework herself. She studies. It is a language homework and has to be written. It is not multiple choice. Claudia is a lawyer and a judge. She send Sofía´s work (9 years old) and in les than a minute the grade comes back. She has hardly passed.
I am pissed because of the chicken thigh (what was the teacher doing in the time that she was supposed to be teaching?) and Claudia says that it is impossible to read, much less to grade something in such a short time.
This, clearly friends, is a rant

Claudia does not much care if Sofía has to do the grade again, except for her friends. With Vicente is different because he is in 11th grade.

@JudyEv I told Claudia to buy books with the contents of the grade, no matter what the school is asking in the minute. Vicente is intelligent and he can study alone.

@marguicha It would be more important for Vincente not to fall behind too much but I guess maybe his whole class is in much the same boat.

@amitkokiladitya This is a private school. But all classes are now online. And the teachers don´t know how to impart them and nobody cares.

Ok, I have to ask, did Claudia write the homework like a nine year old would? I was watching a video not long ago were a child had math problems to do and got all the answers right, his uncle was watching him at the time and checked his homework. Well when the boy got home the next day and showed his uncle his grade he was mad. The teacher gave him an F just because he didn't show his work on how he got the answers. This was multiplying like 5x6, 7x4, etc. The man raised all kinds of sand with the teacher, he said she told him his low grade was because he didn't follow her instructions! I say that's another crazy teacher.

Claudia was mad because there was no way any human being could read and much less grade a paper in less that a minute. As she told me what happened, she could have sent anything and the answer would have been the same at the same time.

@marguicha Yea, I would be mad to then. Can she speak to someone that's over the school about it?

It makes me wonder what kind of homework was given by the teacher. Are you sure that teacher is not a grandchild of Hitler?

@marguicha if the mother is having a hard time with the homework then much more with the student. There is something wrong with the method or with the teacher.

Teachers here are being prepared how to teach online when classes open, at least in my children's school. I think it's a new skill teachers need to learn and an entirely different program they are developing.

I am afraid that these teachers in Sofía´s school are lazy.

There is so much that the children miss out on with online learning. I hope it ends soon.
