You know the ones I mean--the ones you recommend to a friend when they say they need something good to read. Maybe we can all help each other out with ideas for new books to go through.
Mine would be: The Glass Castle, Water for Elephants, Winter Garden, Gone With The Wind, and The Nightengale. If I wanted to throw in a mindless "chick lit" book I'd add Bridget Jones' Diary.
Which books would be on your list?

One of my favorite writers in English is John Sreinbeck. Some of his minor books (Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday) would be wonderful for lockdown.

Well, my favorite author is Stephen King, I have every one of his books, and have read them all multiple times, so those would be the books I would recommend to people. But his genre is not necessarily to everyone's liking, so I have to keep that in mind when I make recommendations.

My latest suggestion would be Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella.
If you read children's books as I do,I would also recommend Edward Eager.

I've read so many good books over the years -- anything by Michael Crichton or Robin Cook, Ann Rule. I've read the Jungle by Upton Sinclair more than once (not for the feint at heart) and one about the Donner Party -- again, not a pleasant book.

I rarely read at all now only online articles.
One of the longest book I read was The Lord of the Rings.
One book that is always stuck in my memory from childhood is Little Women.

Ellen Hopkins, Cassandra Clare, and Luanne Rice are three of my fave authors. Read all of their books. Own all the books by the first two authors.
