Today is Nag Panchami. Nag is cobra and Panchami is 5th day of the fortnight in Hindu calendar. To day we install an idol of Nag at home and worship it. By the end of the day it is immersed in water or left in some clean secluded place. This festival is mostly observed in the states of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. In some areas they worship a live Nag.

@amitkokiladitya An idol of Naga is brought home and is worshipped. There are special dishes prepared for the occasion some of them being special rice kheer, alhu massala and many more. You must have heard about alhu wadi. In evening the idol is released in a secluded place. This is our first festival of Shravan month.
