This week we are in extreme cold and dry in Indonesia. It is actually dry season. In hills or mountainside area, the temperature is very low. In Dieng Plateau, in my province, the temperature in the morning drops until -3 celcius. It is annual occurance. It that temperature, the dew turns to frost and it is called "embun upas" which literally means poisonous dew because the frost make many plants dead.

Frost would kill plants here, too. You must be at a high elevation.

It happen in higher places in my island. My village is only 1000-1200 meters above the sea level.

I covered up my vegetables once or twice because I was scared the frost would 'bite' them.

@Butterfingers unfortunately the area of eternal snow is shrinking and may disappear in less than 10 years. It is more than 5000 above the sea level

Nice to know about your area. We could have never imagined the temperature dropping to -3 degrees celsius in your area during this time of the year.
