So the 2000s Were “Old Music”? (Part 1)

Every now and then I get a chuckle out of discussions that mention listening to “old music” from “back in the 2000s.” Sure, age is subjective, based on the age of the person doing the talking about what’s “old.”
The only thing I’ll agree with about being OLD is “The Prisoner’s Song,” which came out in 1924.
(Quick note: this is presented in jest and with humor. If you’ve talked about “old music” constituting “Breathe” [the #1 song of the year 2000], relax, it’s just a joke.)
However....it got me thinking (which is always a dangerous thing ): How many songs do people hear on the radio every day that are really old, if “Kryptonite” is “old”?
So....
I’m going to do a countdown of songs, most of which get airplay still today, that came out in 1980.
That’s forty years ago.
This will run the month of August, with the first 21 being in alphabetical order then the last 10 being my ten favorite singles from 1980.
This one didn’t make my 40-year-old top 31, but this came out in 1980....and you probably don’t think of it as “old”:

To me, the oldies will always shine. I lived for music until I got into the 1990s and by that time I had moved to Latvia and I sort of lost track and just went back to my favorite oldies and I have been happy since. I mix my favorites with Latvian favorites and have plenty to listen to. Some of the ones others rave about like Justin Bieber and whoever else is popular now I have not even heard before.
