My House under water

I always dread the rainy season. Since last few years my parents house gets flooded with rain water. This year too since last few days it rained continuously for 2 days and water had entered the house.
Luckily we had anticipated it well in advance and removed all things at floor level . The water entered the car shed, living room and the kitchen. Luckily the rains showed mercy and stopped else we would have had to vacate our house and stay in a lodge or some relative house.
Now comes the hard task of cleaning as the water has finally receaded.

Thanks for your concern. Hope the flooding does not repeat again. Else it will be an expensive affair to clean and repair or replace the damages.

@jayanth_77 I'm glad to hear it was only a few inches. It could have been so much worse.

thanks for your concern. luckily the water level inside the house was only a few inches. If water level would have been few feet then the walls would have needed to be repainted and replace the damaged household goods.

Drainage problem is on hike these days. Home level goes down comparing to road level,

You are absolutely right. Houses are at a lower level than the roads so rain water enters the houses.

I am so sorry. In my country, some houses place sacks filled with sand so that water does not enter.

Thanks for your concern. Yes sand bags are a great idea but water tends to find gaps and enter no matter what foolproof technique you apply. When the entire locality around your house is flooded its impossible to stop rain water from entering your house.

Ouch. I do not like the title. It was like that in our rented house. When it pours the flood would enter our living room. We were there for 5 years.

@jayanth_77 there's a lot of mud and traces of oil. Good thing that there were no snakes and rats.

yes it really feels bad with the house is flooded with rain water. More than the cleaning it's the danger of all kinds of animals and reptiles entering the house as they their homes are too flooded.

I am sorry this always happens in the rainy season where you are. I have had plumbing problems so know about having to clean up water on the floor and was in a flood so know what water rising is like. It is no fun at all.

@fluffy69 cleaning took about half a day. We could do it only when the rain stopped and water receaded.

it's shear luck and mercy of the rain gods. Hope it rains intermitantly to allow the water to drain out.

Slant roof is not a problem. Problem is no place for the rain water to drain out or be absorbed by the soil. Trees and grass lands which absorbed the water no longer exist due to concrete jungles . Drains are choked with garbage and plastic waste.
